My specialist skills

My name is Victoria Murray. I am a graphic artist with a BA(hons) in Interior Design and I am currently studying for a BSc(hons) in Multimedia. I have a specialist set of skills obtained from my learning and also freelance work that enables me to communicate ideas visually and creatively.

My main and I think most important skill is my ability to draw freehand. Over the years I have developed my drawing techniques and therefore I am now able to vary my style.. I draw, paint and render with markers many of my pieces of graphic work before putting them in to design software to take them to the next level. Photoshop is my preferred tool for image manipulation as I have over ten years experience of using it and I have found it can really add a new dimension to hand drawn images and also computer generated. Examples of such work can be seen in my show reel. One of my hand drawings of the Printworks in Manchester was selected to be used in an online guide to Manchester and several hand drawing I created as a storyboard are used by Rochdale and Middleton CLC as a learning aid for students.

Some of my most successful pieces of work are in a style I developed recently using design software such as Illustrator and Photoshop. To complete these pieces I honed my Illustrator skills and used the pen tools to create some very crisp, stylised vector images. A recent advert I designed for an Interior Design company is currently published in six specialised business magazines.

Motion Graphics is also a key area of interest for me and I often use my vector images created in Illustrator and Photoshop to create interesting and quirky motion graphics sequences. The software I use to develop these is usually After Effects and sometimes Premiere Pro.
